How long does Nottingham to Heathrow take?
Depending on where you start, Heathrow is about 130 miles from Nottingham. The usual route runs south on the M1, then west on the M25 to the airport. Both are busy motorways and journey times vary widely with the time of day, roadworks and incidents – so we never promise a fixed journey time.
Our booking system allows about 3 hours of driving between Nottingham and Heathrow and suggests drop-off pickup times on that basis. By public transport, coaches and trains generally involve a change, which is hard work with several large cases.
Drop-off: what time should you leave?
Your pickup time is worked back from your departure: about 3 hours' drive, plus arriving about 3 hours before take-off for bag drop and security. For a 14:00 flight, the system suggests leaving Nottingham at 08:00; we confirm the exact time with you when we confirm the booking.
Many long-haul flights leave in the morning and overnight motorway works are common, so follow your airline's check-in advice and allow enough time. Around Christmas and New Year many students fly home – please book early.
Enter your departure time (UK local time) and flight number; the pickup time is entered separately from the flight time.
Check your terminal first: T2, T3, T4 or T5?
- Heathrow has Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Terminals 2 and 3 share the central area, while 4 and 5 are separate – going to the wrong one wastes a lot of time.
- Your terminal depends on the airline and flight. Check your ticket or airline app, re-check a day or two before you fly, and tell us in the booking form or your group chat.
- We drop you at your terminal's departures drop-off. Heathrow charges vehicles entering the drop-off zones; our fixed price already includes it.
